Time keeps on slipping into the future.....

At the encouragement of many people, I will try to document my Alaska cruise via this format. I have never blogged, or even kept a journal, so this may be very interesting project to say the least.

This cruise has been booked for what seems to be forever (roughly 20 months?), so I feel as though the day to actually leave may never come. Bags have been packed for about 3 months, although I feel I am bringing too much stuff. They might just have to be repacked again today after I negotiate with myself how much stuff I want to schlep all over Seattle. I have checked into shipping luggage ahead of us leaving, but I feel that the cost/benefit ratio is much to high.

I tend to get hysterical while rounding up luggage in airports (I had a really horrible experience with a 75 pound piece of luggage after a 3 week trip to England in Heathrow airport about 10 years ago). I don't believe that I am going to be able to take less than 3 pieces of luggage - one for me, one for W and a bag for the camera, binoculars and laptop that will have to be carried on. The problem arises with weight - 50 pounds each for winter gear and 7 days worth of clothes. No problem if I was a size 2. But I'm not.

We will see what happens with the repacking today. There might be a murder committed.
